For anyone who grew up in the 90s, the Goosebumps series was the definitive horror literature for a younger audience. The original run had 62 books, but between various spinoffs, the series clocks in at a whopping 200+ books. That’s not even counting a TV series (that I wasn’t allowed to watch) and the movies. Suffice to say, Goosebumps is a juggernaut, and there was no way that Disney wasn’t going to find a way to get a piece of that pie. Consequently, the IP got a show on Disney+, starting in 2023. The viewership numbers show that it’s been a success.

However, it wasn’t meant to be.

Despite strong numbers, the show is ending after the second season. So far no concrete reasons have been given, but some have theorized that the show just didn’t work for Disney+. However, fear not, you die hard Goosebumps fans. A quote shared through Variety states,

“According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, series producer Sony Pictures Television plans to shop the show to other outlets and explore different creative directions for the IP.”

With the series still going full ahead, we’ll probably see Goosebumps hit the small screen again. We will probably not get anything about Slappy being a Disney princess.
