10 Ridiculous Star Wars Characters

10. Salacious B. Crumb

Salacious B. Crumb is a ridiculous character because he’s meant to be; after all, he’s Jabba the Hutt’s jester. Lugubrious Mott described him as not very intelligent; specifically, dumber than a newborn Rancor. Which…ouch.

The original idea for the character came from Ben Brutt, who said it would be funny to have a mimic creature sitting on a larger creature’s shoulder and copying him during arguments. With his floppy ears, messy hair, big eyes, clumsy gait, and weird laugh, Salacious B. Crumb was a natural performer, well-suited to the role of a jester.

9. Admiral Ackbar

Admiral Ackbar is ridiculous for many reasons. For one thing, he looks like a fish; literally, he’s a man in a fish suit. He was performed by the same guy who puppeteers Salacious B. Crumb. Also, everyone loves him, but he’s done like half a dozen things in the franchise, including having an end that some people might think is unworthy of the character. Finally, even Ackbar’s origin is ridiculous; he’s from a place called Mon Cala, and individuals from this system are called Mon Calamari. Yes, they named the fish-man species after squid.

‍8. Yaddle

I think Yaddle is ridiculous because she feels like a bit of fan service. I mean, we only see her as part of the Jedi council. We know that she’s part of Yoda’s species, she’s 400+ years old, and her species is rare and they are rarely seem, which is convenient in the explanation of her existence. It feels like she exists purely to prove that Yoda is not a unicorn.

‍7. Cornelius Evazan

Cornelius Evazan is ridiculous because he’s so much fun. He appeals to true crime fans because he’s a serial killer; indeed, he seems like a caricature of various medical professionals turned serial criminals. He’s ridiculous because he got his just desserts- being maimed like he maimed his victims. Things aren’t helped by the fact that he has a sidekick named Ponda Baba. He is a foil for the main storyline, adding a bit of camp to the serious environment of Mos Eisley. His alias is even ridiculous: Roofoo.

‍6. Elan Sel’Sabagno

This character, who is also known as Elan Sleazebaggano, appears in Attack of the Clones, trying to sell Obi-Wan Kenobi some Death Sticks. As fans know, Obi-Wan manipulated his mind to convince him that he did not want to sell any drugs. As well as a small-time criminal, he was a medical student, which we can all relate to on some level, because let’s be honest: Coruscant is probably an expensive place to live. He probably became a criminal so he could pay his tuition. He later became an honest man.

‍5. Willrow Hood

Willrow Hood was a human gas miner who resided in the Bespin mining colony of Cloud City. In 3 ABY, his friend offered him a job that involved smuggling a particular canister; we later see him running with the canister during the evacuation of Cloud City.

This canister is quite clearly an ice cream maker, which is where the ridiculousness comes in. It has resulted in one of the easiest cosplays known to Star Wars fans: all you need is an orange jumpsuit and an old school ice cream maker. It’s simple, inexpensive, and it allows you to join the masses as they walk around convention centers pumping their free hands going “ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM!”

4. Klaud

Klaud is ridiculous because he makes no sense at all to the casual observer. You have to go deeper to find out that, although he’s an armless slug, Klaud and his species were sentient; they had no arms, but they possessed prehensile sensory antennae and flippers. That meant they could actually work many jobs requiring dexterity; for example, Klaud was a mechanic.

3. Dexter Jettster

Dexter Jettster, a Besalisk, had a mysterious background in which he did things that made him, among other things, able to identify a poison dart from an obscure planet when asked by Obi-Wan. That being said, this combines with other elements to form the ridiculousness, because let’s face it, the nostalgia of a greasy cook in a 1950s diner is something that appeals to everybody (even though its presence in an epic space opera is quite ridiculous).

2. Babu Frik

Babu Frik is ridiculous because he’s cute. Babu Frick is ridiculous because he’s cute and tiny. Babu Frick is ridiculous because he’s cute, he’s tiny, and he works a serious job in a serious setting. Babu Frick is ridiculous because, despite his tiny statue, he was a whiz; he could repair, reprogram, or modify almost any droid, regardless of its security measures or maker. In his own words, Babu Frick has never seen a droid that he could not bring back.

1. Greedo

Come on, we all know why Greedo is ridiculous. He’s ridiculous because George Lucas tried to use him to make the original trilogy more palatable when the Special Editions were released. However, it is common knowledge to all true Star Wars fans that HAN. SHOT. FIRST.

…Also, Greedo looks like a fly.
