With the rise of revivals the last few years, King of the Hill season 14 could’ve easily been another drop in the bucket. Instead, the series took an alternate turn for an animated series, and aged up all of the characters and settings to the current day. The Simpsons have released a few episodes over the years with the same premise, as well as Mike Judge’s other hit series Beavis and Butthead, but King of the Hill truly embraced the concept. This approach of balancing old characters progressing in time and concepts seems to have paid off, as the new season was warmly embraced by critics and fans alike. Those clamoring for a new season can finally put their worries to rest, as it has been reported that a new season will be released next year.
Vulture broke the story that the new/old hit show will return with a 15th season. According to the report, Hulu had ordered twenty new episodes of the series, with only the first ten being aired in season 14. These details had not yet been shared with the public, but Futurama also had a similar twenty-episode order for their new seasons. So far, no new episodes have been ordered for King of the Hill aside from the initial twenty. The series broke records for Hulu and Disney+; within the first week of the series airing, it became the most-streamed adult animated series premiere on the platforms in five years. With season 14 ending on a cliffhanger, it will come as a relief to viewers to know that the current season’s plotline came with an end goal in mind.

During the recording of season 14, Johnny Hardwick (Dale) passed away and was replaced by Toby Huss. Before the season could air, (John Redcorn) Jonathan Joss was murdered. It has been reported that Season 15 is already recorded and ready to go, so it can be assumed that Jonathan Joss has already finished his lines, but unclear whether or not Hardwick recorded any more than what was already released. With King of the Hill set to debut at Number 2 of Nielsen’s streaming data, just under Netflix’s Wednesday, this series could see itself with a 16th season ordered. Going forward, it isn’t known how Joss’s character will be addressed.
With season 14 of King of the Hill, Mike Judge has landed himself another win. Beavis and Butthead has already seen numerous revival seasons and a movie, with King of the Hill only adding to that success. With the new seasons adopting a less serialized, interconnected plotline approach, it will be interesting to see how the writers can address a possible sixteenth season. Until then, viewers can watch all of King of the Hill on Hulu, and expect a 15th season in 2026.
