IT: Welcome to Derry’s success opened the door for even more IT. Not only has creator Andy Muschietti confirmed that a second season is on the way, but there’s even more coming for fans of Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s two ‘IT’ movies. The siblings revealed that they’re currently dealing with a lack of time, not support, which is why the IT supercut is taking so long. In an interview with Slash Film, Andy Muschietti revealed, “We’re in a moment now where we can definitely go to the studio and ask for support, but when is the question. They can say, ‘Yeah, go for it,’ but now we are sort of committed, like happily committed, to season 2 of Welcome to Derry. And other movie projects is going around. But we’re going to do it,”
Muschietti plans to include deleted scenes and new sequences for a 6-hour-long supercut, which will combine IT (2017) and IT: Chapter 2 (2019). He explains, “It will possibly have a different structure and will have extra scenes, added scenes. I still have to film some of them … because they are the interstitial fabric between the pieces of the story.” Even with so many plans for an IT supercut, the duo is currently hard at work developing IT: Welcome to Derry Season 2. They plan on making the series three seasons, with each season covering a different cycle of Pennywise’s rampage on the town of Derry, Maine. Each season will go back 27 years in the past, with Season 2 expected to take place in 1935.
