In 2018, Duncan Jones of Moon and Warcraft fame announced an animated series adaptation of the comic Rogue Trooper. Now, the director has found his lead. Aneruin Banard will take on the role of a super soldier and lone survivor. The series takes place on Nu Earth during a war between the Norts and the Southers. The Norts are fascist while the Southers are democratic. According to Jones, ““2000 AD offers a very different flavor of comic action: Political and brutal at times, but always with a Pythonesque twinkle in the eye. Dredd (2012) was a taste of what 2000 AD has to offer and now we get to show the world another side of the beast. It is a genuine privilege to be given the opportunity to make Rogue Trooper.”

Producer Stuart Finnegan confirmed that the series is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 with facial performance capture technology. Joining Barnard in the cast are Jack Lowden as Gunner, Daryl McCormack as Helm, and Reece Shearsmith as Bagman. The cast also includes Hayley Altwell,, McCormack,, Diane Morgan, Alice Lowe, Asa Butterfield, and Sean Austin in unannounced roles. No release date has been announced for the series yet.
