While Narnia fans still have to wait a while for Greta Gerwig’s take on the classic C. S. Lewis tale, they can dive back into the fantasy realm this fall. The BBC TV series from the late 80s to early 90s is being digitally remastered to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 24, 2025. The remasters include The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (1988), Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1989), and The Silver Chair (1990). The official descriptions for the series read for The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, “When Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy discover a mysterious wardrobe, they’re swept into the enchanted world of Narnia — a land frozen in eternal winter and ruled by the wicked White Witch. Their journey leads them to a fateful encounter with the mighty lion Aslan, and a battle to free Narnia from darkness.”
For the Prince Caspian series, the description states, Summoned once more to Narnia, the Pevensie siblings join Prince Caspian in a struggle to reclaim his throne from a tyrant king. Years later, Lucy, Edmund and their reluctant cousin Eustace set sail with Caspian aboard the Dawn Treader on a perilous voyage to the edge of the world.”

The Silver Chair’s official description reads, “With Narnia in peril, Aslan sends Eustace and his classmate Jill on a daring mission. Their task: to find and rescue the lost Prince Rilian, held captive under a dark enchantment in the mysterious depths beneath Narnia.” In addition to the main series, the remasters will include interviews, including the cast reunion interview and special features focusing on costuming, set design, and special effects. There will also be a brand new feature-length documentary called Return to Narnia, directed by Chris Chapman. The documentary includes contributions from about 30 members of the original cast and crew. The set also includes outtakes in the special features.
