DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation’s planned film, Dynamic Duo is set to receive a rewrite, as The Wrap revealed who the new minds will be behind the script.

Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber have been tapped to rewrite the animated film, which focuses on a young Dick Grayson and Jason Todd as they both become Batman’s sidekick, Robin. The dynamic duo of Neustadter and Weber are known primarily for their work in rom-coms and drama, having written films like 500 Days of Summer, The Fault in our Stars, The Disaster Artist, and Rosaline.

Dynamic Duo is a film that has the potential to shake up the visual and narrative stylings of DC films, with the movie being animated using stop-motion, puppetry, animatronics, and CGI, courtesy of the New Orleans-based studio Swaybox, founded by Theresa Anderson and Arthur Mintz. Both Anderson and Mintz will serve as directors on the film.

On top of an unconventional animation style, something that will also set this film apart from other DC projects is that it will see both Dick Grayson and Jason Todd as Robin at the same time. In most continuities, Jason Todd (best known as the anti-hero Red Hood) becomes Robin after Dick Grayson leaves the cave, either to found his own team, the Teen Titans, or to form his own identity as the hero Nightwing. Placing both Dick and Jason as Robin under Batman’s care paves the path for a very different kind of story while giving these two members of the Bat Family the chance to share the spotlight.

Dynamic Duo is set to release in theaters on June 30th, 2028.
