'Deadpool 3' Casts Emma Corrin, Star Of The Netflix Series 'The Crown', As Its Villain

Patrick Stewart may be on standby to reprise his role as Professor X for what’s presumably a cameo, but Deadpool 3 still has a main cast to fill out. Emma Corrin, best known for playing Princess Diana of Wales in the fourth season of Netflix’s The Crown, has been cast as the film’s villain.

No other details are known. Corrin is the first confirmed cast member since Hugh Jackman was announced in September to be reprising his role as Wolverine. The third installment in the series starring Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool is the first with the involvement of Marvel Studios. Shawn Levy is directing the film with a script by the returning Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese. Reynolds and Levy are still producing, joined by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

Corrin’s previous acting credits also include a recurring role on the first season of Pennyworth. Their role as Diana earned them Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards as well Screen Actors Guild and Emmy nominations. While succeeded by Elizabeth Debicki in the role for the later setting of the show’s fifth season, Corrin’s 2022 included the films My Policeman and Lady Chatterley’s Lover. They just wrapped on the FX limited series Retreat, and signed on to Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu. It’s probably very forgivable that details about the character aren’t known, because Deadpool 3 isn’t scheduled for release until November 8, 2024, as the first MCU Phase Six film.
