In 2023, a Redditer said they had information saying there was a remake of the beloved Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the works. There was also a leak during the Mircrosoft trial with the FTC that had it on a roadmap. Earlier this year, Kotaku corroborated with their sources that the game is indeed in production. Then it was reported that the game could come out during the first half of the year.

Now, Eurogamer reported that the game launches next week on major platforms, and to add to it, fans scoured the remake developer’s website for screenshots of the game and have compiled them into a folder. Per a LinkedIn profile, it’s believed the game is being developed with Unreal Engine 5, and the screenshots seem to confirm that with absolutely stunning images.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a fan favorite, and often competes with Morrowind and Skyrim for the top favorite (it’s been so long since Skyrim came out while people await the sixth game, that there are numerous editions of the game.) Supposedly the game will have a reworked stamina system, as well as refinements to the stealth and sneak abilities. Furthermore, it’s believed that the HUD will be reworked, as well as improvements to the blocking mechanics and a new archery system. The images that have been compiled also show the new rendering with a horse in armor, which is sort of an inside joke at this point among fans for the infamous paid DLC that was released for the game that allowed you to purchase useless horse armor for actual money. It likely spawned the beginning of the dreaded loot box era.

The game is still technically unconfirmed by both Bethesda and Microsoft.
