The Munich International Film Festival is less than a month away, and news regarding it continues to come. According to Deadline, actress Gillian Anderson will receive the CineMerit Award during the festival. The CineMerit Award is used to honor exceptional individuals in the cinematography field “for their contribution to motion pictures as an art form.” Anderson will be the 28th recipient of the award.

Festival directors Julia Weigl and Christoph Gröner commented on the choice and praised Anderson’s skills, “Gillian Anderson’s incredible versatility never ceases to amaze us: an FBI agent, a sex therapist, an Iron Lady. The Salt Path, adapted from a best-selling novel, reveals a whole new side to her, which we will all get to explore at the Deutsches Theater. By honoring Gillian Anderson, we are saluting a person who embodies much more than an impressive career. She represents strong womanhood and smart decisions, and is a model of principles and integrity.”
