A new name has been tied to the upcoming film adaptation of John Grisham’s 1997 book The Partner.  According to Deadline, Jason Bateman will be taking on the director’s cap for the film. The creative has had a small variety of directing credits over the years. Some of his best-known works as a director include several episodes of Ozark, two episodes of the 2025 crime drama Black Rabbit, and episodes of The Outsider in 2020; considering his general experience in acting, along with his directorial know-how, Bateman will bring a unique perspective to the film.

Bateman will be joining Tom Holland, who is currently set to produce and star in the film. Beyond Holland’s character, Patrick Lanigan, other members of the cast have yet to be announced. Should Holland remain involved with the film, it will be his third producer credit, and the second such credit based on a book; production will occur under his new company, Billy17. Graham Moore is currently tied to the film as its scriptwriter. There is no official filming or release window at this time.
