Kathleen Kennedy may have revealed a major detail about Grogu in The Mandalorian and Grogu during her latest conversation with Variety. Kennedy shared her views on many things, including the new Lucasfilm co-Presidents, Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan. Fans have been speculating whether the movie will be the first time Grogu speaks. A few even like to predict what his first words could be, but according to Kathleen Kennedy, “he never says a word.” This might be disappointing news for fans who wanted to hear him say something, but if you enjoy his adorable coos, this is likely good news. She believes “Grogu is another perfect example of a character that has to emote and you have to feel connected to, and he never speaks a word.”

It’s unlikely that Kathleen Kennedy would misinform fans, but it’s still possible thatGrogu might say a word in the movie that is being kept a surprise. Kennedy also revealed that Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan have been training to take over her position as President for several years. She reveals, “It didn’t just happen six months ago. I spent 10 years talking Dave into gradually stepping into live action. He had so much experience in animation. He’s so knowledgeable about Star Wars and loves it so much, it’s really been a 10-year mentoring process for both of them. Lynwen came out of Industrial Light & Magic. She was my GM the entire time. I would argue that the transition has been really pretty seamless.” Filoni took over as the Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm a few years ago, and now he’ll take all that experience with him as he and Lynwen Brennan take on Lucasfilm as a whole.
