Leslye Headland Speculates Yoda's Role If There Had Been 'The Acolyte' Season 2

The Acolyte ended on a cliffhanger with Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh entering Master Yoda’s room for a meeting to talk about what had just happened between Master Sol and her former apprentice, Qimir. This scene featured a major Yoda tease where the back of his head was shown. However, as the series was cancelled, fans were left guessing what the conversation between the two Jedi would’ve been like. According to series creator Leslye Headland, Yoda would’ve helped Vernestra cover up the role Qimir played, as he was her former Padawan who had gone rogue. Headland explains that Yoda would’ve agreed with Vernestra that throwing everything under the rug is the best thing for the future of the Jedi Order.
However, as concealment and deception are associated with the dark side, this would have shown a very shady side of the diminutive Grand Master. In the series, Vernestra was already shown meeting members of the Senate and blaming Master Sol, who died in the show’s finale at the hands of Osha, for the murders of Master Indara, Torbin, Jecki, Yord, and many other Jedi Knights in a massacre on Brendok. This massacre was Qimir’s doing, but with Sol being dead and unable to defend himself, Vernestra blamed him, and based on Headland’s interview, it seems Yoda would’ve approved what she did. While Sol’s actions were equally questionable since his attachment to Osha led to the destruction of her people and her descent into the dark side, he was in no way responsible for Qimir’s actions. Season 2 would have explored how Qimir, aka The Stranger, played by Manny Jacinto, left the Jedi Order and fell to the dark side, even though he was once Vernestra’s padawan. Unfortunately, this and the outcome of her conversation with Master Yoda will always be a mystery due to the show’s cancellation. The Acolyte is streaming on Disney+.
