Like it or not, Lilo & Stitch has become a huge success, scoring the second biggest debut on Disney+. Behind only The Little Mermaid, the live-action remake of the beloved animated classic reached an audience of 14.3 million after only 5 days. That’s a good record for any production, and Disney is sure to capitalize on this success. A sequel has already been reportedly greenlit, and who knows what else is in store for this live-action remake? We can only speculate about what other projects may be forthcoming; any future information will be available on our website when it becomes available.
The original Lilo & Stitch debuted in 2002. Directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, the film starred a native Hawaiian girl named Lilo, who recently lost her parents and is being raised by her elder sister. Her world is further turned upside down when Alien experiment 626 lands near their home, disguising himself as a “dog” and getting adopted by her. Naming him Stitch, the two connect and bond, with Stitch learning about Ohana (the Hawaiian word for family). The film was an instant success, spawning sequels, a TV show, and, of course, a live-action remake.
