The first season of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series was met with excellent reviews when first released, and it was quickly renewed for a Season 2 and Season 3 to match the original, much beloved, animated Avatar: The Last Airbender series.

Of course, as fans of the original animated series know, Season 2 (Book 2: Earth) is when everything starts to ramp up. More characters are added, deeper story lines, and some of the best character development continues as Aang tries to become the Avatar and master all four elements.

Season 2 started its production in the Fall of 2024 and has now wrapped production. Netflix is now starting production on Season 3 as well, so it was high time for some casting announcements. They already announced quite a few big name characters and actors, but they aren’t done yet. Here are some new ones we can look forward to seeing in the new season and into Season 3 as well!

There is a mixture of bigger-name and lesser-known stars that were announced. Two of the biggest are Dichen Lachman, who will be playing Yangchen. Lachman is most notably known for the hit show Severance on Apple TV+. Tantoo Cardinal has been cast as Hama and is most notably known for Killers of the Flower Moon and Marvel’s Echo.

Other cast includes: Madison Hu (The Brothers Sun) as Fei, Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness) as Lo and Li, Lily Gao (Blue Sun Palace) as Ursa, Terry Chen (Lucky Star) as Jeong Jeong, and Jon Jon Briones (Ratched) as Piandao. Each of them, along with Lachman and Cardinal, will bring Season 2 and Season 3 up to a new level. It will be exciting to see these actors in these roles that we know from the animated series, and bring them to life in a whole new way, as well as to see the new characters that the show is introducing, such as Hu’s character Fei.

Since Avatar: The Last Airbender has even more characters, especially in Season 3, there will likely be even more exciting casting news coming to light soon as the hype rises for the next two seasons.
