Mikey Madison Will Not Be A Part Of Shawn Levy And Ryan Gosling's 'Star Wars' Film

As reported by Variety, Oscar-winner Mikey Madison has passed on the opportunity to be part of Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars film.
Previously, Variety suggested that Madison, who recently won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Anora, was in discussions to join the film. Ryan Gosling is currently the only other actor connected to the project, and both the director and actor recently made a surprise appearance at Star Wars Celebration Japan to discuss the project.
Titled Star Wars: Starfighter, it is a standalone film set about five years after The Rise of Skywalker, with little other information known at this time.
News about Madison’s possible casting, and the end of talks just before this major convention, brings one’s mind back to the original plan for the casting of Steven Strange in the MCU. Intending to reveal the news at a major convention, Joaquin Phoenix turned down the role at the last second and led Kevin Feige to focus on different elements of his presentation. Benedict Cumberbatch was later cast in the role.
Variety has no reporting on if a similar situation took place here, but perhaps more news will be forthcoming on that front after Celebration ends. Mikey has no film lined up for the immediate future, though Star Wars will probably not be the only franchise to show interest in recruiting this incredible actress to a new project.
