Announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan in April, more information has now been revealed about the sequel mini-series to LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. Pieces of the Past will feature a new villain for the heroes to face, who is the star of the latest poster reveal. Solitus is shown as an evil figure wielding two amethyst lightsabers that are chained together.

Solitus will be part of the latest LEGO set based on this alternate universe. The Force Burner Snowspeeder set features a snowspeeder in a fiery colour scheme, piloted by Sig Greebling. Sig is chasing both Solitus and Darth Dev. The former pilots a STAP, while the latter rides on a speeder bike that is detachable from the snowspeeder. Just how this chase ends will be one reason to watch the series.

For the returning cast members of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past, Gaten Matarazzo returns as Sig Greebling, Tony Revolori as Darth Dev, and Bobby Moynihan as Jedi Bob. Darth Jar Jar will be returning for this sequel, with Ahmed Best again reprising the role as the true phantom menace. For new faces, Ashley Eckstein will voice Ahsoka once again. Ben Schwartz will bring to life Jaxxon the Lepi. And voicing Solitus is Dan Stevens.

In talking of the series, the cast have given ideas of just what connections these characters share and small hints to the events that will happen. Matarazzo says that this season “isn’t a tug of war between the good and the light with Solitus. It really is just a pure evil force whose main desire is control and order and completely sterilising the fun that can be brought to the Star Wars universe.” Dev and Sig will be working together, too.

Revolori says that Dev is “trying to make sense of this new world where he’s not the Supreme Leader and figuring out his conflicting emotions for Sig Greebling, his brother.” The dark side is a strong pull, with Revolori making note that Solitus is the master that Dev feels he needs. “Someone who can finally teach him his place in the universe.” But naturally, Dev is really just “having a whole lot of issues; he needs a friend and some love badly.”

Ahmed Best shares that Darth Jar Jar is “half the Sith Gungan he used to be, but 10 times more convinced that he is and will always be the Phantom Menace.” Bobby Moynihan reveals that “Jedi Bob has to come to terms with the lies he has told. To himself and others. It’s time to be genuine with himself.” Both reinforce that Solitus is going to be a large threat, with Best calling him the “big bombad baddie” and Moynihan saying he is “not to be underestimated and not to be crossed.”

For the new characters of Pieces of the Past, Schwartz says that it was Moynihan who introduced him to Jaxxon. “When he pitched me the lore and told me that Ban Hernandez and Benji Samit were behind the show, I had to jump in.” This will be “the most Jaxxon he has ever been outside of a comic book.” As for Ahsoka, Eckstein reveals that she “is still dealing with the sadness of her past, but her desire to help those around her is stronger than her fear of failure.”

Ahsoka will also have dealings with Solitus in the new series, who Eckstein says is “hungry for power.” Being an empathetic character, Ahsoka “always tries to understand why someone is acting the way they are. Whenever I hear the phrase, ‘Don’t judge a person until you walk in their shoes,’ I think of Ahsoka. She tries to understand Solitus and his actions, while protecting her newfound family from him.”

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past will arrive on Disney+ September 19, with all four episodes available on that day.
