Empire Magazine’s The Mandalorian and Grogu issue, which includes a photoshoot of the iconic duo and interviews with Pedro Pascal, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Sigourney Weaver, and more, went on sale yesterday. The interviews reveal a lot about the upcoming Star Wars film and what went into making it. Still, one spoilery image from the movie featuring Grogu and an Imperial Warlord has captured everyone’s attention. The image shows poor Grogu locked in a birdcage, next to Jonny Coyne, and an Iktochi. According to Jon Favreau, Coyne will portray a character whose name fans will like, which has led to speculation that he’s a character from legends. Coyne last appeared as the character in The Mandalorian Season 3.

As for the image of Grogu, it shows him in a birdcage, which eagle-eyed fans already spotted in the trailer. It appears Grogu will be captured in the movie, and Din will have to free him. The scene also appears to be a part of the gladiator arena sequence where Din and Rotta the Hutt will fight. Aside from this image, Pedro Pascal joked that Grogu only agreed to do the movie after his name was added to the title. Pascal said, "It was a demand Grogu made, and no one could say no. It was the only way to get him to say yes to the movie. He’s like, ‘Listen, let’s be real. The Mandalorian and?” The actor revealed that the creator, Jon Favreau, loved his fight scenes in Gladiator II and thought he was ready to really dive into Mando’s character physically. He revealed, “Jon gave me a call and said, 'Hey, you're getting pretty good at that!" Empire confirms that Pedro will be in the suit, both with and without the helmet, for a majority of the film. Favreau also used The Volume differently than he did for the series. This time, the creative team relied on massive sets, Phil Tippett’s stop-motion, and puppetry. Pedro teased that he would upload a video of the massive sets as soon as he’s given permission.

Finally, an important aspect of any feature film is its score. Ludwig Göransson is back for the job, which he reveals has a bigger scale compared to the series. Göransson admits he upped the ante this time as "I'm able to bring the music out in a way where it's on a bigger scale. We have a 105-piece orchestra (an increase from the 70-piece orchestra for the series). There’s also a 64-piece choir. The Swedish composer said that one of his favorite parts of the movie is when we’ll get to know Grogu a bit better, which may point to a solo adventure for the little guy. However, he didn’t reveal much about what his music will sound like this time around, so fans will have to wait until May to hear it. The Mandalorian and Grogu will premiere on May 22nd.
