San Diego Comic-Con delivered on something that seemed like it would never see the light of day. Shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2023 despite being complete, Coyote vs. Acme was acquired by Ketchup Entertainment in March 2025. The panel showing off the film revealed that a theatrical release is coming, with a date of August 28, 2026, set.

Moderator of the panel, Paul Scheer, started with saying, “This is the panel that you were not supposed to see!” before rolling the first clip of Coyote vs Acme. In that clip, Wile E. Coyote recalls the many failed attempts at catching Road Runner thanks to the failure of the Acme products he used. Classic Road Runner clips intercut with the modern footage.

Later in the show, with Scheer joined by Will Forte, Martha Kelly, Looney Tunes voice actor Eric Bauza, and Coyote vs. Acme director Dave Green, an extended clip is played. This one shows the first day of court proceedings, with Coyote’s lawyer Kevin Avery (Forte) standing against the formidable Acme attorney Buddy Crane (John Cena). Cameos are found here, including the knitting mother hen on the jury, with many more to be found across the film. Including Bugs and Daffy.

The panel, while showing off Coyote vs. Acme, even had some live stage performance, which poked fun at how the film almost never came to be shown. An Acme Corporation representative, played by P.J. Byrne, appeared to tell the audience, “You do not have permission to share information or footage from this anti-Acme film!” The climax of the performance came with a group of unpaid interns being brought on stage to try to stop the trailer from being shown.

Ketchup Entertainment reportedly acquired Coyote vs. Acme for $50 million, roughly $20 million more than its estimated budget. No matter how successful it might become after its theatrical release on August 28, 2026, it has at least been saved from becoming lost media. A fate that Batgirl seems unlikely to come back from.
