'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Has Officially Broken The Record For The Biggest Opening Day Of All Time

The records keep coming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Tom Holland-led film achieved an opening day record of $168 million, an all-time high. Previews alone earned $72 million. Studios predicted that Brand New Day would earn $195 million domestically and $465 million globally. Spider-Man cost $225 million to produce. At this point, there’s no doubt the film will earn a sizable profit. That predicted domestic record would have the movie in the top ten all-time debuts, but audiences showed up in droves pushing Spider-Man to the top spot. Audiences and critics alike are loving the film with film critic David Rooney citing a “never-better Tom Holland.”
Tom Holland’s other box office hit The Odyssey moved into second place in the box office followed by Toy Story 5. Minions & Monsters and Moana were also in the top five. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the record-breaking Spider-Man feature with Holland as Spider-Man, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Zendaya as MJ Watson, Jon Berenthal as Frank Castle, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, and Sadie Sink in a role new to the MCU. Florence Pugh makes a few cameos as Yelena Belova. Brand New Day is still in the beginning of its box office run, and if audiences continue to show up in the numbers they have, it will likely break a few more records before its run is over.
