'Star Wars: Starfighter' Filming Wraps And Heads To Post-Production

Showing how serious Lucasfilm is about returning Star Wars to the big screen, nearly seven years after the premiere of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, the second in the line of new Star Wars theatrical films, Star Wars: Starfighter, has wrapped principal photography. The film, directed by Shawn Levy, now heads to post-production to put the finishing touches on the film before its anticipated May 28, 2027, release date.
Although no details have been released yet regarding the plot, we do know that it is set approximately five years after The Rise of Skywalker. The film is a standalone story set within the Star Wars universe and features brand new characters and locations in the galaxy far, far away. The cast includes Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams, who are all newcomers to the Star Wars universe.
Meanwhile, The Mandalorian and Grogu, is expected to hit theaters on May 22, 2026, giving Star Wars fans two Star Wars films in as many years!
