The Mandalorian scored a major victory for Disney+ by becoming the only Star Wars project to surpass a billion hours streamed on the platform. The Walt Disney Company shared these stats as a part of their 2025 streaming roundup, which included facts and figures on all their Disney+ and Hulu content, including movies, cable TV shows, and original series. This makes it the only Disney+ original series to achieve this glittering milestone. While Disney hasn’t elaborated on what these numbers actually mean, the fact that they made it a point to highlight this achievement likely signals that it’s a significant milestone in their eyes. Whether The Mandalorian secured these figures in 2025 or accumulated them over the past 6 years since its premiere is unclear.
High viewership numbers and The Mandalorian go hand in hand, and fans will recall that the show has been a chart topper from the beginning. Mando stands apart from all other Star Wars original series, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, The Book of Boba Fett, The Acolyte, and all animated series in terms of viewership. The Mandalorian premiered in November 2019 to an extremely positive reception from fans and critics, as the show’s mysterious helmeted hero and his diminutive sidekick formed an instantly endearing duo. Season 2 premiered in October 2020 to even more applause, and the show quickly topped Nielsen’s Top 10 ratings, with over a billion minutes streamed over the course of Season 2. Streaming figures remained high for most of Season 3, but as of now, there’s no confirmation from Lucasfilm regarding a fourth season of the show. Jon Favreau recently confirmed that he has the script for Season 4 sitting on his desk at work, but next year’s movie remains his priority.
