A fan-favorite creative from behind the scenes of Star Wars is returning to the franchise!

Ludwig Göransson, composer for The Mandalorian’s iconic first season soundtrack and the other musical stylings of the two subsequent seasons and The Book of Boba Fett, is returning to the franchise after a break for the past few years. Granted, the break was not long, and other, more than capable, composers provided the music to Ahsoka Season 1 and Skeleton Crew, but Göransson’s return is still a pleasant additional element to the first Star Wars film in theatres in half a decade.

Göransson’s more recent work has seen him collaborate with Ryan Coogler to help create the excellent, music-heavy film Sinners, but also worked to create the soundtrack to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. He will be continuing his collaboration with Nolan in the near future, as he is the composer for Nolan’s next major film, The Odyssey.

Göransson is joined on The Mandalorian and Grogu by Jon Favreau in the director’s chair, who also serves as the film’s producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Ian Bryce. While the recent trailer for the upcoming film, which premieres next May in 2026, didn’t appear to have any new musical elements that strongly stood out, one should never underestimate Göransson. If he’s on the project, fans should expect at least one banger in the film, and he just might end up outdoing himself when it comes to Mandoverse music creations!
