A new Audible exclusive Star Wars story is on the way!
Fans keeping a close eye on digital storefronts recently noticed the new listing for the audiobook set to release on October 9th of 2025. It joins several other titles on the service in the same vein, and is likely to be released as part of celebrations for The Force Awakens’ 10th anniversary. Entitled Star Wars: The Jaws Of Jakku, the audiobook’s summary reveals the story has Rey, Finn and BB-8 returning to the planet of Jakku between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Based on the cover art, this appears to be after Rey has repaired the Skywalker lightsaber, suggesting she will be some ways into her Jedi training under Leia (somewhat affirmed by the book’s summary) and have gotten some help already from Beaumont Kin in deciphering.
But the author of the Audible experience, Cavan Scott, has offered more information on his website. In a post on August 21st, he revealed that the story will be from the first-person perspective of a girl, which the Audible summary only briefly mentioned. She is on a mission to save her family, and while that perspective is not unheard of for Star Wars stories, it is certainly rare. It will be fascinating to hear the thoughts and feelings of someone meeting two of our big three heroes from the Sequel Trilogy, especially since Scott states the girl already has some experience with Rey! It will also be great to possibly gain a new perspective on Jakku from this girl’s experiences on the planet.
