Supergiant Games has announced that v1.0 of their newest game, Hades II, will be released digitally on September 25.
The game, a sequel to Hades from 2020, was announced in December 2022 and released as an Early Access version in May 2024 for Windows, with a macOS release following in October of the same year.
A rougelike action role-playing game, Hades II follows Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and sister to Zagreus, the protagonist of the first game. With the help of her mentor, Hecate, Melinoë aims to defeat Chronos, the Titan of Time, who took her family prisoner. On her journey, Melinoë gets aid from other Olympian Gods.
Players who bought the Early Access version of Hades II on Steam or through the Epic Game Store will receive the v1.0 update for free. New players can get the game on these platforms for the same price as before ($29.99), but Hades II will also be available on September 25 for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
The game will take advantage of the improved hardware of the Switch 2, offering 120fps gameplay in full HD when played in TV mode, and 60fps gameplay in full HD when played in handheld mode. It will run at 60 frames per second (fps) and 720p in both modes on the Nintendo Switch.
