World Builder Entertainment is getting into publishing, with the division of World Builder Publishing ready to bring new stories to franchises. The first focus for the division is King Kong of Skull Island. Partnering with DeVito ArtWorks and the Merian C. Cooper Estate, World Builder will develop books that expand the universe of Kong.

In a statement, DeVito said, “We’re thrilled to have World Builder Publishing as our publishing partner. Their expertise in franchise-building and storytelling makes them the perfect home for Kong’s next chapter. Extending World Builder’s reach into the often frustrating and slow-moving world of traditional publishing brings a welcome alternative to the industry.”

Dannie Festa, founder of World Builder, will lead the publishing division alongside Nick Terry. World Builder Publishing, as stated by Festa, will prioritise those who they see as having “bold, original voices across all genres” while fast-tracking them to market. In talking about entering the world of publishing, Festa continued with, “This is about more than just publishing books. We’ve always been focused on nurturing intellectual properties that can thrive across multiple platforms and we’re passionate about collaborating with creators who have big ideas and want to see those ideas reach their full potential.”

This isn’t the first time World Builder has worked with the King Kong of Skull Island franchise, with a Disney+ series in collaboration with Atomic Monster currently in development. Entering the world of publishing allows greater opportunities for franchises to grow through the same company, as Festa stated. “Integrating publishing into our offerings enables us to create opportunities for our clients across various creative disciplines by bridging the gap between publishing and entertainment.”
