NabooAlderaanCloud City. These are the kinds of worlds people may think of when the idea of romantic Star Wars locations comes up. Each is an example of beautiful planets, planets with beautiful locations on them, or sites of notable romantic moments in the Star Wars galaxy. However, there are a few locations with less-stated romantic moments, or with draws by civilians in the galaxy who might be looking for love, peace, and harmony. So today, we’ll look at five locations you might not expect or consider to have romantic elements.

5. Solaraine

The unique lovers of Sy Snoodles and Ziro the Hutt

“But…but…what about Solaraine…the sunsets…y-you and me sharing a future?” So goes the ONLY line in Star Wars that explores the location called Solaraine, as Ziro the Hutt pleads for his life from his scorned lover, Sy Snoodles. We also know that the location is the homeworld of Val, from Solo: A Star Wars Story. We can assume it is notable for its sunsets, and might have a tourist economy as a result, but we can also see it as a place of romance. Val may be hard as nails, but she has a soft side she shows with Tobias Beckett, and any location that can make someone fall in love with a Hutt HAS to be someplace special (Snoodles does say Ziro broke her heart, implying their affection was once genuine). We look forward to the day we get a better description of Solaraine, and perhaps find there’s more to the world than just its captivating vistas.

4. Niamos

What, Niamos? The quiet world we only got a small glimpse of in Andor? Well, as more stories have come out in the years since Andor Season 1, and when looking closely at Andor’s construction of the Star Wars galaxy, we can see that this is a planet where romance can blossom. We know that Niamos is a tourist destination dating back several years before the Skywalker Saga, and while Andor doesn’t show much in the way of the world’s amenities for travelers, other stories note the planet as popular with the public who can afford to make the journey there. As a tourist like Cassian can quickly find himself a companion, we can assume that love is ultimately in the air on Niamos, a planet full of things to do and aliens to meet alongside the thriving dance scene.

3. Saleucemi

This might be an odd choice, as some of the only bits of Saleucemi we see are during an active war, but the environment of the world appears generally peaceful, inhabited by people who wanted to avoid the Clone Wars. Yes, there are threats in the form of Nexu and other local wildlife, but broadly speaking, Saleucemi exists as a quiet world of frontier farmers and rural centers, though it is also one of the earliest planets to feature the tightening grip of the Empire. Yet for a brief time, it was also the site of one notable romance: between the clone who chose the name Cut Lawquane and his wife, Suu. It is also a rare location of definitively seen cross-species offspring in Star Wars, as while Cut is not his stepchildren’s biological father, they are half-human, half-Twi’lek from Suu’s unknown previous partner. Ultimately, the family flees Saleucemi, but the humble world is still a place where cross-species romance bloomed, and where beautiful plants flower among a determined populace.

2. Bora Vio

So, excluding the horrors found inside the floating abandoned facilities of the Kaminoan cloners, the planet of Bora Vio is simply breathtaking. Its skyline is gorgeous, with glistening abandoned facilities hanging in the cloudy air as the sun peers in, and warms the world. We also know the surface of Bora Vio is fairly soaked in clouds too, or at least the area around the floating facilities is, producing an effect that heightens the mystery of the planet. We don’t know if Bora Vio is inhabited on its surface, or in other floating structures elsewhere on the world, but if anyone wants to plan a romantic, scenic picnic, Bora Vio seems like an ideal choice.

1. Dalna

The natural beauty of Dalna

We’re cheating a little with this one, since from all accounts, Dalna is a beautiful world and one that eventually becomes something of a tourist destination by the era of the Skywalker Saga (and we’re double-dipping a little with our praise of Path of Deceit in our other Valentine’s Day Star Wars list). However, this little world has quite the history, and was initially a geopolitical backwater before, for a brief moment, the wider galaxy converged on its surface. It was also this sleepy backwater world that gave birth to one of Star Wars’ storytelling’s greatest love stories, between Marda Ro and Kevmo Zink. It suffered great destruction after this point, but its resilience from hardship is a strong symbolic linkage between this planet and the concept of love. Love is something that can be hard, and as perseverance and connection ultimately help Dalna in the end, so too could a trip to this lovely world can help anyone who comes to visit its beautiful, lush, flower-coated landscape.
