It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights, because the curtain isn't quite going down on Muppet*Vision 3D just yet. The attraction, which was the last Muppets project Jim Henson worked on before his passing, called Disney's Hollywood Studios home for over 30 years before it closed in June of last year. However, though it may not be in the parks anymore, Disney is giving it new life through virtual reality.
Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson, revealed in a Q&A that the famed attraction is heading to the Apple Vision Pro platform. In this virtual theater, fans will be able to sit in any seat in the house before and during the show, allowing the user to change their viewpoint at any time. This project has been in the works since last May, with the attraction being documented with VR cameras during a special “Filming Event Archiving MuppetVision 3D” attended by cast members at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.
The Jim Henson Company confirmed plans to archive the attraction in this manner during a panel celebrating the company's 70th anniversary. Currently, there is no timetable for its release, and whether or not it will remain exclusive to the Apple Vision Pro.
