Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced in 2019. It seems like fans are finally getting news on when the sequel to the hit first game will release, but there has been some confusion. That seems to have been cleared up.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Silksong will be playable at an Australian museum in September. This left people wondering when the game would actually come out. Jump to this past weekend, and during Xbox’s summer showcase, Silksong was shown in the same video as the announcement for the first Xbox handheld, the Ally.

Sarah Bond, Xbox President, announced that it would be available at launch. This led viewers and fans to think that it meant it would be a holiday 2025 release. Since then, the game’s developer, Team Cherry, has clarified what that means.

Matthew Griffin, their Marketing Manager, has stated on the team’s official Discord that they are not tied to a console release, and the game will be available before the launch of the Ally and the holidays, specifically referencing Christmas.

This still is not a definitive release date, which at this point begs the question: what’s the hold up? The launch of the Australian museum exhibit is September 18, so some speculate if that could be the release date, but aside from the clarification on the launch of the Ally, there has been nothing else.
