Jock Blaney, the veteran radio broadcaster and voice actor best known for voicing Wolf and Bill Grey in Star Fox 64, passed away on March 19th at age 76.

Born Frank Blaney II on June 29th, 1949, in Morristown, New Jersey, Blaney began in radio, working for Sheridan, Wyoming station KROE right out of high school. He then moved on to Gillette to work for Roy Maple at KIML, but he soon moved to Los Angeles for school. It was here that he enrolled in a voice acting clinic early on in his career, held by the late Mel Blanc, the legendary voice actor known for Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and several others. Blaney spent two years in Hollywood before going back to Wyoming as an announcer and program director for KATI from 1974 to 1977.

His voice-over career began with the 1997 Nintendo 64 title, Star Fox 64, where he voiced Wolf and Bill Grey. Though he only voiced those characters in that game, his voice made such an impact through countless memes, videos, and the childhood memories of several 90s kids. He even reprised the roles in an upcoming fan game, Star Fox Event Horizon. Blaney’s other roles include Dimitrij Volkov in the PC and PlayStation 2 title, The Operative: No One Lives Forever, Wet Eddie in Spy Fox: Operation Ozone, the narrator in Rise of Nations, and the announcer in 21 seasons of America’s Test Kitchen. He is survived by Robert Mills, his daughter, Brandi Phillips, three grandsons, Eli, Sam, and Zac Phillips, and his niece, Nikki Shosten.
