The contemplation of a remake or reboot of Blade has been discussed and in the works for years, but has been the subject of false rumors regarding release dates. According to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, the remake of Blade is still under production with Mahershala Ali as the half-vampire vampire hunter. Previously portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the original films, Blade also made an appearance in the Deadpool & Wolverine film.
Given the recent expansions of the MCU and new material added to Disney+, it’s a wonder how Feige’s Blade has yet to confirm a release date. Feige explained to Variety that the “prolonged delays” on “Blade” were symptoms of Marvel’s “over-expansion”. While Feige did not clarify whether or not Blade’s delay is the “fallout” of Marvel’s “over-expansion”, he did repeat a statement by Disney CEO Bob Iger that “for the very first time ever, quantity trumped quality.”

After two directors leaving the project and no current director confirming their involvement, there is some comfort in Ali’s determination to remain attached to playing Blade if and when Blade is up and running once again.
