Marvel Studios' summer blockbuster The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to hit theaters this week, and the early reviews are in, all echoing a resounding' Marvel is back!'

The film, a unique take on the superhero genre, chronicles the lives of four individuals who gain superpowers after a space mission gone wrong. Now, they are not just superheroes, but also celebrities in their own right, making it Marvel's new MCU epic for Marvel’s first family.

Journalist Brandon Davis took to X to compare the film’s visuals to those of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. He writes on X, “Galactus is awesome. Silver Surfer looks really, really good. VFX were often immaculate. Cosmically and on Earth, Matt Shakman dropped a visual feast.”

Sharareh Drury from People wrote on X her appreciation of the film, crediting leads Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby’s on-screen performances, writing, “Marvel’s First Family delivers an awesome ride…Pedro Pascal nails it as Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby stands out as Sue Storm - she’s a shooting star.”

Even with such high praise, the film isn’t without its mysteries, with Variety exclusively reporting that John Malkovich was cast as the villain, Red Ghost, but was cut from the movie. Director Matt Shakman explained, saying, “When we were building a ‘60s retro-future world, introducing all of these villains, introducing these four main characters as a group, as well as individually, introducing the idea of a child - there was a lot of stuff to balance in this movies and some things had to go ultimately in terms of shaping the film for its final version.”

Nonetheless, the highly anticipated release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps in theatres worldwide on July 24 has Marvel’s First Family fans on the edge of their seats.
