LEGO is booming these days, with sets coming out seemingly by the day. As a fan, it’s a great time to be a LEGO collector.

One of the best things LEGO did was introduce the Ideas group. If you don’t know what the Ideas Group is, it’s free to sign up for, and it’s a place for LEGO fans to propose new sets to LEGO to build and sell. The LEGO Stranger Things house and Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters were originally submitted as LEGO Ideas builds. Members can vote on which creator made sets they would like to see become actual LEGO sets, and if they get enough votes, that’s more likely to happen.

As part of the Ideas membership, LEGO runs challenges, and the winners often see their sets become realized. The latest challenge to conclude was the 90s Throwback theme. And we have our winners.

Recently, LEGO announced that the winners were a set featuring claymation stars Wallace and Gromit, from the hit shows and movies of the same name, and a set from the hit 90s sci-fi show The X-Files.

The X-Files set, titled The Truth Is Out There, was submitted by Ideas creator WetWired. It features everyone’s favorite FBI agents Scully and Mulder. It’s split into two tiers. On top, there’s a UFO shining a beam down on an alien with Scully and Mulder in the woods with flashlights. Below them is a replica of Mulder’s office, with the thematic “The truth is out there” poster. Minifigures besides the ones mentioned will include the Jersey Devil, Assistant Director Walter Skinner, Eugene Tooms, and the Syndicate Leader.

The Wallace & Gromit set, submitted by Idea creator Pidelium, is a brick figure set, where the characters are not minifigures, but are instead built out of bricks, and they’re riding a motorcycle together. Wallace is driving, and Gromit is sitting in the side car with an old school pilot’s helmet and goggles, much like they did in the film A Close Shave. It looks incredible and just like the characters in their movies.

Now, just because an Idea is selected doesn’t mean it’s going to look the same as it was when it was submitted. LEGO can make modifications if need be. They tend to stay close to what was submitted. We have no word on when these will release, but they should be must-adds for any collector.
