San Diego Comic-Con has been home to many casting announcements and visual reveals over the years. 2025 is no different, with Invincible one of the latest shows to reveal some key details about the upcoming seasons of the show.
These reveals center around Season 4, with show co-creator Robert Kirkman announcing that actor Matthew Rhys, known for his role of Philip Jennings in The Americans, will be playing the critical role of Dinosaurus. We won’t say too much about this figure, given the comics lay out the likely storyline we’ll see the show follow, but the character is the split personality of a scientist named David Anders, whose goals focus on environmental conservation efforts on Earth. It can be best described that Dinosaurus is The Lizard to Mark Grayson’s Spider-Man, though there are some twists on such a dynamic. These details and events should hopefully provide some intriguing storytelling opportunities to newcomers who do not know the comic storyline.
Kirkman also commented about other elements of the show, namely that it would take between seven and nine seasons to complete the core comic arc the show is based on. He also made a joke that fans could expect Season 5 in 2032, a nod to the significant length of time between seasons of the show. He then took a moment to explicitly push back on the idea that the animation quality for the show has decreased, insisting that the animation has and will continue to improve each season.
Season 4 of Invincible remains in production and on track for a 2026 release.
