The blue bomber is back! In a surprise announcement, a teaser trailer was dropped for Mega Man: Dual Override. The trailer begins with a panning shot towards some sort of chamber. During the event itself, it was underscored by an arrangement of the Air Man theme, and a voice that presumably was Dr. Light called out, “The world needs you once again.” The doors open to reveal Mega Man being awakened. We then get a glimpse of the gameplay, which is a 2.5D platformer similar to Mega Man 11. The trailer ends with MegaMan overlooking the city. At the very end, the ProtoMan whistle can be heard.

Not much more has been revealed on the game's website. However, a contest for designing a robot master was also announced, with the requirements being that it has a right arm with “immense suction powers.” Fans can submit their designs on X until January 1st using the hashtags #MegaManDO and #DesignARobotMaster.

The reaction to this announcement has been mostly positive, with many praising Capcom for bringing the franchise back after a near decade long hiatus. However, some aren't as pleased, with the game’s early detractors wishing it were an entry in another MegaMan subseries, while others think it's too similar to the previous installment, Mega Man 11. Still, others are grateful to see any Mega Man at all. Mega Man: Dual Override is set to release on all major platforms in 2027, just in time for the blue bomber's 40th anniversary.
