For four years now, Star Wars fans have waited for word about the release of the revealed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake that was being done by Aspyr. Fans did learn that the development of the project was handed over to Saber Interactive.

Recent reporting by Stephen Totilo at Game File reveals more about the development of the remake, and apparently reveals that there is a possible Knights of the Old Republic 2 remake also in the works.

In 2022, Aspyr announced that they were porting Knights of the Old Republic to the Switch. The trailer that revealed the port ended with a line that claimed “Restored Content DLC” was coming soon. The DLC never came, and Aspyr was sued for false advertising.

In documents that have surfaced from that lawsuit, more information about the KOTOR remake has come to light, as well as information in a deposition that claims there was a plan to remake KOTOR II.

When it comes to KOTOR II, there’s no confirmation about the game being developed, but information about the DLC fiasco sheds light on a possible remake and what happened with the DLC. Disney lawyers essentially put the stop on the release of the DLC. In the filings, something called Project Juliet was discussed. Through the deposition, it was revealed that this was a discussion about remaking KOTOR II, and including content from the mod, the DLC, that relates to Star Wars in the Juliet project.

As far as the likelihood of KOTOR II being developed, Reilly, as of March 2025, said it was on the roadmap, technically.
