Fans were given a new 1-minute-long look at The Mandalorian and Grogu during American Idol this week. This particular spot features several new sequences that highlight the film’s expanded scale and the evolving relationship between its lead characters. Grogu is growing more comfortable with the Razor Crest, and Colonel Ward reminds Din Djarin that “We’re protecting everything the Rebellion fought for.” Djarin says, “We’re gonna have to do this the hard way.” Rotta the Hutt is shown body-slamming an opponent as Din and Grogu watch their fight. There’s also a space mansion on what looks like a brand new world. Fans are already speculating that this mansion could belong to Rotta or one of the Hutts. The clip also includes a funny moment when Grogu gets tossed back in the Razor Crest, and Mando chides him about not wearing a seatbelt.
In addition to the new TV spot, Jon Favreau appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about the movie. Favreau discussed how Kathleen Kennedy convinced Martin Scorsese to play an Ardennian shopkeeper in the movie. As part of Favreau’s appearance on the late-night show, a new scene from The Mandalorian and Grogu was shown to audiences. Grogu tries to access the Razor Crest’s cockpit as Din Djarin, Zeb Orrelios, and the new Imperial warlord, played by Jonny Coyne, attempt to escape a group of Stormtroopers. The hilarious new scene is reminiscent of the red wire and blue wire scene from Season 2, in which Grogu tried to help his dad repair the ship’s faulty wiring. Meanwhile, Star Wars continues to post videos of Pedro Pascal and Grogu sharing adorable father-son chemistry, while reminding fans to book their tickets for the movie. The Mandalorian and Grogu will hit theaters on May 22.
