After eight years at Paramount Animation, Ramsey Naito is leaving the company. The departure comes amid major restructuring following the merger with Skydance Media. Restructuring that will see large-scale layoffs impacting roughly 2000 US workers and potentially those working internationally.
Naito’s executive career saw a start at Nickelodeon. Across the years, she also held positions at Blue Sky Studios and Cartoon Network, before returning to Nickelodeon in 2018. Having revitalised the studio’s animation pipeline, she became president of Nickelodeon Animation in 2020. The year after, she moved from executive vice president to president of Paramount Animation, which she had joined the same year as Nickelodeon.
Across the years at Paramount, Naito oversaw projects in franchises such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, PAW Patrol, Smurfs, and Transformers. Bringing new chapters to those franchises, along with franchises such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, over at Nickelodeon.
Naito shared a memo to the staff of the company announcing her departure, which has been shared online by Variety. In it, she wrote, “I want to share with you that I am leaving the company and closing this very special chapter with all of you. Leading this incredible team of talented storytellers, artists, and dreamers, and watching the magic that you’ve spun from your imagination and dedication, has been one of the great joys of my career.”

She ended the letter with, “Not only am I endlessly proud of what we’ve built, but even more so the spirit behind it – the collaboration, creativity, and kindness that define this team. Though I’m moving on, I’ll always be cheering you on (and singing along to the PAW Patrol theme or humming the TMNT riff when I see your work lighting up screens everywhere). Thank you to Josh, Dana, and the fantastic leadership team who I know will keep propelling our animation business to great heights.”
