After 7 years of being part of the Star Wars galaxy, Pedro Pascal says he’s not done yet. Pascal confessed that he wants to continue playing The Mandalorian for as long as he is physically capable. At a Q&A in London while promoting The Mandalorian and Grogu, he said, "Hopefully I get to continue playing him for as long as my body, or as many bodies as we put into the suit, can take it." Fans are used to hearing that Pascal is never in the suit; however, that is false. Jon Favreau confirmed that Pedro spent a lot of time in the suit and even filmed underwater scenes, which he enjoyed because of his background as a swimmer. Favreau revealed that he was so impressed by Pedro’s performance in the action scenes for Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II that he called the actor up and told him he’s getting pretty good at that stuff. That’s when Favreau decided to have the Din Djarin actor in the suit for as much of the movie as possible.
While Pascal will be in the suit, with and without the helmet, for quite a bit of time in the movie, he does share the job with other guys, including Lateef Crowder, Brendan Wayne, and Barry Lowin. The Mandalorian is, without a doubt, an incredibly intense character to bring to life, but it’s good news that Pedro wants to continue playing the character. This could also mean that Din Djarin may have many adventures left, and The Mandalorian and Grogu won’t be the last we see of him. For now, Pascal, Jon Favreau, Sigourney Weaver, and Grogu are on a press tour that has taken them to Mexico City, Madrid, Paris, and London, but they’re not done yet. Promotion has ramped up in recent weeks, and fan reactions to the 30-minute IMAX previews have been positive, with most fans expressing their satisfaction with the film’s action sequences, music, and visuals. The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22.
