A long-awaited update for HBO’s It: Welcome to Derry is finally here: a new teaser for the series was released! The teaser opens with a child walking through freezing weather and hitchhiking to get away from Derry, Maine. A family picks him up and assures him that they’ll return him to his parents; this starts a trend of smiles that take a sinister edge as the trailer progresses. The recurrent issue of missing children in Derry is established, and a group of kids investigates the disappearances on their own while trying to figure out what’s going on. The entire trailer is overlaid by a version of the Tiny Tim song ‘Fill Your Heart’ that gets regularly distorted, building on the vibe. A release window of fall 2025 was given at the end of the trailer.

This series is a prequel to the reboot films It (2017) and It: Chapter 2. There will reportedly be three seasons in total, the first being set in 1962, the second being set in 1935, and the final being set in 1908, all exploring the events that occur when Pennywise appears every 27 years. Delving further into the book lore, Andy and Barbara Muschietti explained to Entertainment Weekly, “Specifically, we are telling the stories of the interludes, writings by Mike Hanlon based on his investigation that includes interviews he conducts with the older people in the town.” There will be nine episodes in total for the first season.
