SAG-AFTRA Agrees To End Year-long Video Game Strike

It has been just shy of a year since the SAG-AFTRA video game strike first began, and just over a month since it had been suspended when a tentative agreement had been reached. Today, thanks to a vote with more than 95% in favor of the deal, the strike has officially come to an end, with the agreement set to begin immediately. The contract was made with Activision Productions Inc., Blindlight LLC, Disney Character Voices Inc., Electronic Arts Productions Inc., Formosa Interactive LLC, Insomniac Games Inc., Llama Productions LLC, Take 2 Productions Inc., and WB Games Inc..
The new deal provides compounded increases in compensation for performers at a 15.17% rate with a guaranteed increase of 3% in November 2025, 2026, and 2027. The overtime rate for overscale performers will be based on a double scale, and the health and retirement contributions rate will go from 16.5% to 17% with an increase of an additional 0.5% in October 2026. The new deal also created new consent and disclosure requirements when it comes to the use of AI generated content. Everyone involved in negotiations has voiced their support of the agreement that was reached and their excitement moving forward.
