International fans of South Park, who have been loyal to the show, are now facing a period of uncertainty as Paramount Plus has lost the license to stream the hit, foul-mouthed show. South Park's domestic streaming deal has also expired; however, HBO Max continues to stream the series on their platform.
Paramount Global streamers' negotiations continue, sources close to the deal-making are telling Deadline. This is an unfortunate delay due to South Park's extremely lucrative streaming rights having been caught up in Skydance's pending purchase of Comedy Central's parent company, Paramount Global. This purchase, which includes South Park Digital Studios alongside series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, has added a layer of complexity to the negotiations.
The South Park creative owners, who never mince words, took to X to express their frustration, saying, “This merger is a sh*tshow and is f *cking up South Park. We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.” Their candidness about the situation is a testament to their dedication to the show and their fans.
