'Warhammer' Announces New 'The Scouring' Book Series

With the recent end of the Horus Heresy and Siege of Terra novel series, fans were wondering what the next big publishing push from Warhammer’s Black Library would be. Many of these guesses proved correct, as at The Big Summer Preview of July 2025, the next novel series was revealed to be The Scouring and would cover the titular period.
The Scouring was a period following the Horus Heresy where the devastated Imperium of Man turned its rage and strength into fuel to hound the remnants of the Traitor Space Marine Legions out of material space. Various other events took place during this era, namely the steady disappearance or inactivity of the Loyalist Primarchs. The depth and detail of this new novel series are sure to cover many of these occurrences, big and small, and should provide a complete picture of this period of transition for the Imperium.
The announcement specifically noted that the coming books will focus on three distinct perspectives: that of the Loyalists, the Traitors, and the rest of humanity who were swept along in the chaotic decade of the Heresy. It also teased new characters for readers to follow, naming three of this expanded cast: Iron Warrior Ortag Theokon, zealous Word Bearer Adraharsis, and Chief Librarian of the Ultramarines, Prayto.
The first novel in the new series, Ashes of Imperium, will be released sometime before the end of this year. But we should keep on the lookout for other announcements, as more novels are sure to follow!
