Tales Of The Underworld is the newest animated Star Wars anthology. These episodes focus on the newly resurrected Asajj Ventress and the rise of the bounty hunter, Cad Bane.
The first three episodes follow Asajj Ventress, who Mother Talzin recently resurrected after being buried in the waters of Dathomir. She has since turned over a new leaf, but is still hiding from the Empire. Of course, you can only hide for so long. She gets caught and aids a young Jedi on his journey to find the Path. We saw Ventress in a leadership role in season 3 of The Bad Batch when she aided Omega. It was wonderful to see her grow more as a character and take on another young apprentice, who, even though she doesn't show it, has become quite fond of her new friend.
The next series of episodes shows us how Cad Bane became the infamous bounty hunter we all know him as. We get to see him as a young kid working for someone named Lazlo. Cad and his friend get recruited to help Lazlo rob the local joint. The boys get separated when his friend gets captured by the law. The next episode shows an older Cad, who is now on a path of revenge. He reunites with his friend, who is now a deputy in the local law enforcement. The two hash it out until Cad is arrested.

The final episode gives us the Cad Bane we’re familiar with. He gets out of prison and is back once again to get revenge. I’m glad Star Wars finally showed us Cad Bane’s origin and how he became the ruthless bounty hunter he is today. It was interesting to see what shaped him as a character and his backstory. Even though he perished in The Book of Boba Fett, I still have some hope that we will get to see him again in the future.
The animation is absolutely gorgeous and keeps getting better with each new project. It’s in the Clone Wars animation style, which is my favorite. The score was also great. Cad Bane’s music, especially, had a Western flair, which was perfect. Star Wars projects have truly mastered the art of a good score.
I love these anthology series, but my biggest problem is the length of the episodes. I get they're supposed to be shorter, but right as I get into the story, it's over. They always leave me wanting more. I guess this means, however, that it leaves the door open for them to appear again in future projects, so there's always hope.

Tales Of The Undeworld is one of my favorite anthologies they have done. I am biased, however, because Asajj Ventress is one of my favorite characters. I am so happy we got to see her again. I love that these anthologies focus on different characters than the ones we’re used to. There’s always something to explore and expand on in Star Wars, so I hope we get another one of these anthologies in the future.
