Last month, M80 claimed the Munich Major 2025 title by defeating Team Falcons. The victory marked the organization’s first Major championship, beginning its legacy as a winning organization in Rainbow Six Siege. It also added a historic chapter to Rainbow Six Siege esports, as veteran talent Fabian Hällsten, also known as Fabian, became the first player to win a Major R6 tournament both as a player and as a coach.

M80’s roster of Hotancold, dfuzr, Kyno, Gunnar, and Gaveni carries an impressive pedigree, as it closely mirrors the BeastCoast lineup that won the Manchester Major in 2024. Given that history, their strong performances come as little surprise. However, two key changes elevated the team from good to great. The first was the addition of Kyno, the Brazilian player who replaced SpiriTz. The second, and more significant, was the arrival of Fabian Hällsten. Arguably one of the greatest IGLs (in game leaders) in Rainbow Six history, Fabian transitioned into the coaching role after building his legacy with Penta, later known as G2, one of the most dominant teams the game has ever seen.

It is easy to accept that M80 was a contender for the title. However, when looking at their roadmap through the tournament, it becomes clear how the influence of the Swedish veteran, combined with the team’s experience, created an environment of hard work and resilience that overcame several tricky situations. For M80, the tournament began with an incredibly strong performance. They took down a stacked G2 roster and then comfortably beat FaZe, the team who would later become a thorn in their side. Momentum carried them into the upper bracket semifinal, where they battled Team Secret to a nail biting 2-1 victory, solidifying what looked like a strong showing from the nearly all American lineup.

Then came the setback, as M80 clashed with FaZe Clan once again. The Brazilian org showed no mercy, defeating M80 in a decisive 2-0, and pushing M80 to the lower bracket, testing their resilience. With no margin for error left, a single loss would end their tournament run. That is where experience proved crucial. Fabian was not only one of the R6’s greatest players, but someone who understood the pressure teams face when pushed to the brink. After a strong pep talk, M80 recovered from what could have been a disastrous loss and once again defeated Team Secret, before moving on to face Wildcard. Their wins over both teams earned M80 a rematch against FaZe Clan, who had previously beaten them without mercy. This time, however, the outcome was different. M80 defeated FaZe 2–1 and secured a place in the Grand Final of one of the top eSports tournaments of the year.

Waiting for M80 in the final was Team Falcons, a top tier squad that had recently absorbed the former BDS roster, currently known as Shifters. Led by LikEfac and headlined by star player Shaiiko, Falcons entered the Munich Major as the clear favorite. A battle tested lineup, Falcons came in with recent victories at the Esports World Cup 2024 and the Jönköping Major in 2022. For M80, the Grand Final was not just a title match, but a test against one of the most proven teams in Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six history.

Despite the strain of playing more matches than Team Falcons, M80 came out swinging in the Grand Final. They took the lead in the opening map in overtime, but Falcons quickly answered back with a convincing win of their own to level the series at 1–1. Once again, the team led by Fabian showed its resilience, bouncing back as they did against FaZe, by learning from their mistakes and fighting to the end. By winning maps back to back, M80 closed the series 3-1  securing the first Major title in the organization’s history. The team showed a great deal of perseverance and stayed level-headed when it mattered most. M80 won the series, with Gunnar earning MVP, while Fabian once again rewrote Rainbow Six’s history, this time from the coaching chair rather than with a keyboard and mouse.
