5 Other Stories We Want To See From Tie-In Material For 'The Acolyte'

Over the summer, Star Wars saw the release of four tie-in products to The Acolyte: Two novels, The Crystal Crown and Wayseeker, a one-shot comic focused on Kelnacca, and lastly, a reference book with a deep dive into various locations, characters, and outfits of the show. The Art of The Acolyte will be released next year, and while there were no newly announced tie-ins at NYCC 2025’s Lucasfilm Publishing Panel, we remain hopeful that more will come. After all, so much was unexpected about the reveals at that Panel, and who knows what comics Marvel is cooking up for the future. Today, we’ll run through five stories we’d want to see from tie-in material to The Acolyte.
5. Kelnacca On Khofar

We see very little of Kelnacca on the planet Khofar in The Acolyte, with the majority of his scenes instead taking place in the past on Brendok. The Acolyte one-shot comic written by Cavan Scott gave us some more background on his character, as did The High Republic Phase 3’s comic miniseries Fear of the Jedi, but Kelnacca’s time on Khofar remains a mystery. This tie-in could be yet another one-shot, exploring Kelnacca’s seemingly damaged mind as the carvings on the inside of his house show the lingering influence of the Brendok witches on his psyche. It could also be a story set some years before The Acolyte, prior to his total vanishing into the world’s dense forests, which is mentioned as something more recent by the time of the show.

4. Jedi Osha

One of the periods of time The Acolyte skipped over during its narrative was Osha’s time with the Jedi Order. While we hear of the outcome and some of her feelings from that time, actually viewing her with Master Sol and making friends with the likes of Yord could be a great source of information and understanding about her character. We got a story that tugged at our heartstrings through an exploration of Yord and Jecki as the pair teamed up in The Crystal Crown, so why not have a similar adventure set before the events of the show, when Osha was still a Padawan? Have her and Yord on a mission together, and explore that dynamic, as well as look deeper into how Osha viewed Master Sol.
3. Olega And Its Jedi Temple

While we don’t spend a ton of time with the Jedi on Olega, it is one of the few Jedi outpost temples we are aware of that still exists in this era of the Republic. Exploring the Jedi who occupy its halls would be fascinating, and could provide us more information on why Torbin chose Olega as the site of his intensely isolating Barah Vow. It would also be great to get more information on the world of Olega itself. Perhaps seeing the background to the apothecary, who Qimir almost certainly violently removed, as well as new stories about the various background characters we briefly see in the show, could greatly enrich the setting and give more focus to a world only briefly seen in the expanse of the show’s runtime.
2. Senate Politics

Star Wars has tended to shy away from showing the complexities of the galaxy far, far away’s politics in its recent storytelling. It was one of the biggest gaps in The High Republic’s examination of the Republic, but it has been made up for by projects like Andor and the Reign of the Empire trilogy. We got little broader context on the political battle Vernestra Rowh was fighting in the Senate. Having stories focused on her activities there, on her clash with Senator Rayencourt, or alliances with other Senators, might go a long way to fleshing out yet another area of The Acolyte’s world. We got a hint toward this at the end of Wayseeker, so a story picking up just a few years later wouldn’t be out of place to give us further insight into the character and the Republic at this time.
1. Continuation Of The Main Plot

It may take a while, perhaps even years, but continuing the very teasing conclusion to The Acolyte with some sort of follow-up story would be ideal. Perhaps it could be executed with a significant jump forward in time, and involve a whole new cast of characters, investigating some new situation or event that brings the old events of the show to light. Maybe Osha breaks from the Sith, and they begin to hunt her, prompting her to seek aid in the Jedi or others, yet failing in her effort. Or perhaps we pick up right where we left off, and fully unravel what role Plagueis has to play in the story of Qimir and Osha. There is hope for something like this to happen, as while fans did not get Solo 2 to continue the stories of various characters, they did get a substantial continuation of Qi’ra’s story in the various Marvel comic series that launched in 2020. Even if that story jumped over one of the most interesting character dynamics to date, Qi’ra and Maul, it did acknowledge it and use it to shape Qi’ra’s master plan. Have hope, Star Wars fans! They simply cannot abandon such a cliffhanger forever!
