Dave Filoni Will Be Honored At The 51st Saturn Awards

David Filoni will be honored at this year’s Saturn Awards. The Academy of Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror Films has announced that he will receive the prestigious George Pal Award.  David Filoni will join illustrious company. Previous recipients of the George Pal include Gene Roddenberry, Sam Raimi, Ridley Scott, Guillermo del Toro, and Kathleen Kennedy.

David Filoni joined the Star Wars franchise as director for the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars back in 2008.  He then took the lead on Star Wars: Rebels, personally creating many of the characters that fans now love. Cad Bane, Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan Kryze, and, of course, Grogu all came directly from the filmmaker.

David Filoni’s recent promotion to Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm was universally praised, especially after The Mandalorian season 3 was named the most popular show of 2023.  Filoni intends to take his Mandoverse to new heights.

Academy president Robert Holguin and Saturn Awards producers Bradley and Kevin Marcus had this to say: “Dave’s work has had a profound impact on the ‘Star Wars‘ franchise, breathing new life into beloved characters and expanding the universe in exciting and unexpected ways”

The ceremony will be held on February 4th, 2024.
