Disney+ has grown significantly this year, successfully positioning itself as a heavyweight contender in the streaming industry heading into the new year. The numbers speak for themselves in the House of Mouse’s recent “2025 Year in Streaming” statement. Notable network acquisitions include ABC News and ESPN, both of which appear to have performed superbly. ABC News enjoyed the most streams, while 90M hours of sports have been viewed on the platform since ESPN joined the team. For reference, Disney states that this is equal to watching 26M college football games, nachos anyone? Top-performing titles in the billion-hours-of-streaming range come as no surprise. They are Bluey, American Dad, 9-1-1, Bob’s Burgers, Desperate Housewives, Bones, Encanto, Family Guy, Futurama, The Golden Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Grey’s Anatomy, Jessie, King of the Hill, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Law and Order SVU, Modern Family, Moana, The Mandalorian, The Simpsons, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Rookie. The Walt Disney Company refers to this bunch as “The Billion Hours Streamed Club,” and this year’s newest members are Sons of Anarchy, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Malcom in the Middle, and Spidey and His Amazing Friends.
Switching gears—the force was strong on Star Wars Day, as May the 4th 2025 was the most-watched day of the year on Disney+, while the wildly popular animated series, Bluey, was the most-watched series of the year, with 26.5 million rewatches. How’s that for a visual representation of both sides of the force? Approve, Yoda does, sure are we. What does the world’s favorite Australian Blue Heeler family have in common with Dancing with the Stars? In a word, connection to Australia Zoo’s Robert Irwin, who, along with several other celebrities, danced to the tune of over half a billion votes counted, making it the most viewed live title on Disney+. Companion podcasts to Dancing with the Stars, as well as Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, enjoyed over 160M plays. Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke was the most-viewed docuseries on Hulu and is ranked as the most-viewed title in 31 out of 50 states, including Utah. Adult animation content was streamed for 3.4B hours, suggesting that entertainment is available for a range of preferences on this platform. Now, these numbers are out of this world. Speaking of out-of-this-world, Alien Earth represented FX well on Disney+, with viewers watching for 100M+ hours. This was FX’s biggest premiere ever on Disney+ and Hulu. Additionally, Disney+ Perks were redeemed over 4M times in 2025.

The variety in programming doesn’t end there either. Disney+ was the hub for seven of the most-watched international originals to premiere on a streaming platform. Disney’s statement highlights EMEA’s The Stolen Girl, APAC’s Nine Puzzles, and LATAM’s The Best Heart Attack of My Life specifically. Speaking of global affairs…in the politically divided world we live in, where little common ground can be found, it seems noteworthy that every single state in the US and nearly every country enjoyed watching Moana 2 this year. And not just one-and-done views—this full-length animated film was rewatched 80M+ times. Finally, National Geographic and Disney+ brought in 40M+ hours of ocean-themed National Geographic content and 3M+ virtual Incredicoster Rides to subscribers, respectively. With this many networks and titles in one place, Disney+ is clearly well-positioned to entertain fans across genre lines moving forward in 2026.
