Former World of Warcraft producer Raymond Bartos announced on LinkedIn first reported by MassivelyOP, that he has officially joined Riot Games. Before joining Riot, Bartos served as a lead producer at Blizzard Entertainment, where he worked on several updates and expansions for the long-running MMORPG World of Warcraft. His arrival has given fans renewed optimism about the future of the League of Legends MMO, which entered development five years ago and underwent a major reboot two years ago. Many now believe the project may finally have a strong foundation to grow steadily.

In a welcome development, Bartos will be reuniting with former Blizzard colleague Orlando Salvatore, who currently serves as engineering manager for the Riot MMO. Together, the “duo” brings years of shared experience that could inject both energy and polish into the project. Speaking about his decision to join Riot, Bartos expressed enthusiasm for the studio’s culture, stating, “From my very first conversation with Riot, I immediately gravitated toward their values, and I was genuinely impressed by how clearly those values showed up throughout the interview process. It made it obvious that kindness, respect, and care aren’t just words here, but something the team truly lives by.” He added, “I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to join such an inspiring group of people, and I can’t wait to get started, showing up every day to provide value for Riot gamers and help deliver an MMO experience players truly enjoy.”

As of today, Riot Games has not shared a release date or many details about the League of Legends MMO, leaving fans of the game and the show Arcane to wonder what the game will actually look like. The project was first announced in 2020 and went mostly quiet until 2024, when Riot confirmed it had been reset to rethink its direction. Changes in leadership over the years only added to the uncertainty. Still, the team insists that work is continuing behind the scenes. Bringing in Raymond Bartos to join Orlando Salvatore could help give the project more focus and stability. While there’s no guarantee of a launch anytime soon, their experience may be exactly what the MMO needs to finally find its footing and appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers.
