With San Diego Comic-Con 2026 right around the corner, the schedule for the long weekend of panels, presentations, and more convention activities has been posted. Star Wars fans should be delighted to see that there are several panels being run officially with or by Lucasfilm and their partners, exploring several areas of the franchise.
The three panels which have gotten the most attention are the publishing panels, “Lucasfilm Publishing: Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away . . .,” “A Galaxy of Star Wars Comics from Mad Cave Studios and Lucasfilm Publishing,” and “Star Wars Books from Random House Worlds.” The main Lucasfilm panel lists at least two authors as appearing, Ahmed Best and Kristin Baver, and promises “fresh announcements and reveals that expand the Star Wars saga into books and comics for readers of all ages.” Just what these reveals could be is a mystery, as there are many empty slots in the coming months for upcoming stories, to say nothing of next year’s big anniversary currently being extremely sparse.

Speaking of the all-ages crowd, Mad Cave Studios’ panel should be interesting as this newcomer to publishing Star Wars stories has three previously announced projects with a promise for “reveals of new tales coming soon.” Unfortunately, exactly when these stories might release is a mystery, as while the upcoming one-shot comic linked to The Mandalorian and Grogu written by Delilah Dawson is releasing on schedule, the graphic novel focused on an adventure of a young Luke Skywalker back on Tatooine saw its release date significantly pushed shortly after its announcement.
Lastly, Random House Worlds likely brings the focus back to a slightly older audience, with the authors Madeleine Roux and Ashley Poston (writers of the upcoming Legacy and Eyes Like Stars) getting the spotlight. Unlike the other two panels, the spiel doesn’t mention new announcements, though it is probable these are dropping at the main publishing panel and could instead get a tease or further expansion on the Random House Worlds stage.
Another panel, previously revealed a few days before the official drops of everything else SDCC-related, is entitled “Making of Star Wars: The Experience” and will give an exclusive look into the creation of this significant touring museum experience. Featuring dozens of props from the franchise and serving as a celebration of the franchise’s upcoming 50th anniversary, this look into the Experience is sure to be an enjoyable time, especially since it is being moderated by Ashley Eckstein!
All of the above panels happen on Friday, July 24th, with the publishing panels one after the other in a relentless push forward, before the Experience’s panel takes place later in the day. But we’re not done yet. Somewhat overlooked is the reveal that SDCC 2026 will also host a panel about the upcoming Star Wars Zero Company!

Taking place on Saturday afternoon, “Bringing Star Wars Zero Company to Life: Meet the Cast Behind the Highly Anticipated Tactical Star Wars Game” is poised to introduce the VAs for the game’s various characters. While some have been discovered by internet detectives prior to this panel, this will be the first time the group is together on a stage discussing the project. The panel also promises a dive into the game’s story, as “panelists will give attendees an extended look at the story and how these operatives must learn to work together to overcome nearly impossible odds.”
Overall, even if there isn’t any presence from a Star Wars film or show at SDCC, the convention is far from devoid of official announcements, to say nothing of the many other unofficial or Star Wars-related panels run by fans and previous contributors to the Star Wars franchise.
